Archibald Alexander Gordon married Lizzie Maude Smith in 1892 and the couple later received three children: William H. E., George R. and Edmund R. Gordon.
Lizzie Maude Smith was born on the 24th of January 1872, being the twin-daughter of Edmund Davidson Smith and Mary Mathilda Smith.
Lizzie had a twin-sister Frances Alma Smith and elder brother William Cook Smith who was three years older than her. Her father was born on the 27th of June 1833 and was listed as a Lieutenant-Colonel of the 95th foot in 1912. He previously served the 95th foot as an Ensign in 1853, he later was promoted to Lieutenant on the 6th of June 1854. A year later he was promoted again to Captain on the 5th of June 1855. In 1866 he was registered as a Major and became a Fort Major and Adjutant in Jersey on the 16th of January 1874
was a member of the Grand Lodge of Freemasons of Ireland since 1857 and became later a member of the United Grand Lodge of freemasons of England in 1869. Father Edmund D. Smith is later listed as a Major-General in 1916. Edmund Davidson Smith died on the 8th of September 1916 and was buried in the Kensal Green Cemetery, London.
Edmund Davidson is also registered as the father of Mabel Sarah Anne Hyde Macbean, who was born on the 9th of May 1867 and later married Herbert Wyatt Harrisson in 1907. Mabel died on the 27th of May 1952.
During the war Lizzie remained in .. while her husband was overseas. The bad health issues during the war, combined with the poor food in London during the war let to certain health problems with Lizzie. This resulted that the couple moved to the Cotswolds, but because of the high altitude they moved back to their hometown Bridge of Allan in 1924
Lizzie Maude Gordon died on the 13th of July 1929.
