AUGUST 2021

To celebrate the society’s 2nd anniversary some of the Major Gordon Whisk(e)y Pals took the opportunity to go to an independent Whiskey collector who was willing to offer two members a sip of the Glengoyne 35 years. This special edition has an edition of 500 decanters. The whiskey was made in the 1970’s and aged for 35 years in sherry caskets and has an alcohol percentage of 48,7%.

Grading of the pallet

Both members of the Pal’s had a different experience when they taste was offered. For this reason, we like to publish these two tastes seperataly.

1) The nose gives an overall sherry smell. While tasting you have a lot of flavours coming
at you. The first that came to mind was apples and raisins immediately followed
with a cream, chocolate and orange taste. Although it has a fresh fruity taste while its
body has a large depth.

2) While smelling I found a mix of chocolate and sherry. The first taste I had was an
oak bitterness with an aftermath of chocolate flavour. In the aftermath I taste some
raisins but could not find the apples. However, I agree that there is a lot of flavours
involved but to me they have a more spice flavour rather than sweetness.

JUNE 2021

This month each member had a taste of the DEANSTON 12 years Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The whiskey is 46,3% and is Un-Chill filtered.

Grading of the pallet

It is the Pal’s joint opinion that the nose of the whisky gives an overall honey smell with scents of gras with light and floral fragrances. The taste is smokey with a tangy (like pepper) taste combined with a subtle taste of hay and grass.

MAY 2021

This month each member had a taste of the GLENGOYNE 12 years Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The whiskey is 43% and is made in Refill Oak,1st Fill Sherry & 1st Fill Bourbon barrels.

Grading of the pallet

It is the Pal’s joint opinion that the nose of the whisky gives a subtle floral (almost sherry), a light buttery with a touch of limon/citrus fragrance. The taste of whisky can be compared to a fruity white wine and has no aggressive peat or smoky taste.

APRIL 2021

Each member had a taste of the LOCH LOMOND original Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This whisky is as many Loch Lomond whisky's matured in the finest American oak casks. The label states that the whisky has a hint of smoke and peat character.

Grading of the taste

It is the Pal's joint opinion that the pallet of the whisky is not satisfying with the description on the label. The peat flavor is not present and the whiskey gives a more smokey feeling. This gives the whisky a more dry taste.
