ALFRED COOPER - 7TH SEAFORTH HIGHLANDERS
Alfred Cooper, the son of William H. W. Cooper, was born in St George, Kidderminster, Worcestershire. He enlisted in Ayr and was incorporated into the 7th Seaforth Highlanders, with whom he landed in France on 3 October 1915. During the Arras Offensive, he was first missing and later presumed to be killed on 2 May 1915 at the age of 21. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
SECOND LIEUTENANT DOUGLAS MUNRO MC - 7TH SEAFORTH HIGHLANDERS
Munro enlisted in the 9th Royal Scots (the regiment Major Gordon co-established). He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the 7th Seaforth Highlanders on 15 March 1915 and was later incorporated into the Machine Gun Corps. Douglas served in France, was decorated with the Military Cross and later served in Italy, receiving the Croce di Guerra 1919.Douglas was born in 1894 as the son of James Graham and Isabelle W. N. S. PRIVATE A DRYBURCH - 8TH GORDON HIGHLANDERS
Private A. Dryburch disembarked with the 8th (Service) Battalion Gordon Highlanders in France on the 10th of May 1915. He served with the regiment till 3 April 1919. He is possibly the brother of Serjeant J. Dryburch, who was with the same company and battalion killed in action on 30 May 1916; both men's serial numbers are sequential. Serjeant J. Dryburch is buried at Vermelles Military Cemetery and was the son of Alexander and Elizabeth Dryburgh.
CORPORAL JOHN WOOD - 8TH GORDON HIGHLANDERS
Private -later corporal - Wood most likely got his training at Aldershot, where the battalion was stationed and went to Bordon in February 1915. He landed with the company at Boulogne (Fr) on the 10th of May 1915. Wood was later transferred to the 9th and 5th Gordon Highlanders.
PRIVATE JOHN HILLS - 1ST GORDON HIGHLANDERS
Private John Hills enlisted with the 1st Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders on the outbreak of the war under the command of Lt. Col. Neish and second in order, Bt. Col W.E. Gordon. THOMAS MILLAR - RND HOOD BATTALION
Thomas Miller was born on November 17, 1885, and lived in Liverpool, where he worked as a chandler. Two days prior to Great Britain declaring war on Germany on August 4, 1914, Thomas Miller joined the Royal Naval Reserve and was enlisted at Mersey headquarters.
